Basketball, Socializing, Gatherings, Networking

A lot of life here revolves around a gym. And not just playing basketball one weekend morning and one weekday eve.  Much of our social life involves dining out and socializing with those I play ball with; it follows a “path' from my youth; we made plans at school and after school in the school yard, or in regular gatherings in the courtyard our home fronted on.  The tendency carries on: those we interact with more frequently – at work, play, social and other functions – get more of our organized socializing.

Last night exemplified that. The plans got made when most were together elsewhere.

While social media and various e-tools (emails, texting, etc.) replace making plans to socialize, I still put a premium on making plans face to face.

By the way, it carries over to networking and business and professional relations as well (Perhaps it'll get its own blog one day.).

I still like it.

What about you? Share how you plan your social “engagements” in the comments (if you have access; if you lack access and would like reach out to me and I'll advise how or chat about it when I see you.) or via Facebook or twitter.

Happy 4th! Cherish our independence and what it means.
